Cape Town: Table Mountain on foot, the MyCiTi bus, and the free beaches

The cableway up Table Mountain is pricey and closes in wind; the Platteklip Gorge hike reaches the top in two to three hours for free, and you can ride down. The MyCiTi bus runs along the Atlantic seaboard to Camps Bay and Hout Bay cheaply. Boulders Beach's penguins charge a small fee; the beaches of Clifton and Muizenberg are free, and Kirstenbosch garden is cheap and a highlight. The Cape Point drive via Chapman's Peak is the day trip; rent a car for it.
