Cheap, close, and off the radar: the value of Tunisia

Tunisia is one of the Mediterranean's best-value destinations: guesthouses in restored medina houses (dar) cost a fraction of Moroccan riads, meals are a few dinars, and louages cost less than a coffee in Europe. Flights from Europe are short and often cheap off-season. Visitors from most of Europe and North America don't need a visa for short stays. The shoulder months of April, May, October, and November have warm seas, empty ruins, and low prices.
