Shoes, trash, and the subway seats you shouldn't take

Take your shoes off in homes, temples, and many traditional restaurants with floor seating; look for the shoe rack. Trash cans are rare on the street, and household trash is strictly sorted, so carry wrappers back. On the subway, the pink and yellow seats at the ends of each car are reserved for elderly, pregnant, or disabled passengers, and Koreans won't sit in them even when the train is packed. Public drunkenness is tolerated; loud behavior and jaywalking are not.
