Don't jaywalk, and don't walk in the bike lane

Germans wait for the green man even on an empty street, and crossing on red in front of children earns real disapproval, occasionally a fine. The red-paved strip along many sidewalks is a bike lane, and cyclists ride it fast; standing in it to take a photo gets you a bell and a shout. On the autobahn, the left lane is only for passing: move right as soon as you've overtaken, or someone very fast will be on your bumper.
