Typhoons, the summer humidity, and the MRT etiquette

Typhoon season runs July to October; when a typhoon day is declared, offices and schools close, trains stop, and so should you. Summer is intensely humid; plan mornings outdoors and museums at midday. On the metro, no eating or drinking (fines apply), stand on the right of escalators, and the dark-blue seats are for the elderly and pregnant. Queue lines are painted on platforms and respected. Taiwan is one of the safest countries to travel in; the hazards are weather, not people.
