Tap your bank card on the MRT, and skip the paid skyline

The MRT and buses accept contactless bank cards and phones directly, so there's no need to buy a transit card; fares are low. The Marina Bay Sands observation deck charges; the free alternatives are the light show at Gardens by the Bay's Supertree Grove every evening, the Marina Bay waterfront promenade, and the rooftop of the Esplanade. The Botanic Gardens are free and a UNESCO site; the National Gallery has free days for some galleries.
