Tulips without the bus tour, and the free ferries

The Keukenhof gardens are open only from late March to mid-May and are reached by public bus from Schiphol or Leiden with a combined ticket that's cheaper than a tour. The flower fields around Lisse are free to cycle past in April. In Amsterdam, the ferries behind Central Station to Amsterdam-Noord are free and run constantly; the NDSM wharf and the Eye Film Museum's terrace are on the other side. The city's parks and markets (Albert Cuyp, Noordermarkt on Saturday) cost nothing.
