The pub is a restaurant: order at the bar, and try the Sunday roast

In most pubs you order food and drinks at the bar, give your table number, and pay as you go; nobody comes to take your order. Tipping isn't expected for drinks. A "Sunday roast" is the national comfort meal: roast meat, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy, served from midday until it runs out, so book or arrive early. Pubs with a chalkboard menu and no laminated photos are usually the ones cooking from scratch.
