Euro now, tolls on the motorway, and the Sunday quiet

Croatia switched to the euro in 2023 and joined the Schengen area the same year, so there are no border checks from Slovenia or Hungary. The A1 motorway from Zagreb to the coast is excellent but tolled; have a card ready at the booths. Many shops close on Sunday outside tourist zones. Croatians are relaxed about dress on the coast but expect covered shoulders in churches, including Dubrovnik's cathedral.
