Grab for rides, the e-visa for entry, and cash from the bank ATMs

The Grab app gives fixed prices for taxis and scooter taxis and avoids the meter games; Vinasun and Mai Linh are the reliable taxi companies if you hail one. Most nationalities need an e-visa from the official immigration site, with a few countries exempt for short stays. ATMs charge fees and have low limits; those of the big banks (Vietcombank, VP Bank) are the best bet. The dong comes in notes with many zeros; check the 20,000 and 500,000 notes carefully, they look alike.
