The "menú del día" is the best deal in the country

On weekdays most restaurants, from neighborhood bars to good kitchens, offer a fixed-price lunch menu: a starter, a main, bread, a drink (often wine), and dessert or coffee. It's posted on a board outside. The same food à la carte at dinner costs far more. Look for places full of workers in overalls or office clothes at 2:30; that's where the menú is honest.
